Garment Care
5 Questions
For optimal longevity, we recommend a cold, gentle machine wash (inside out) using a pH-neutral, wool-safe detergent. Separate your Merino from heavy textiles like denim or towels to prevent fibre abrasion. Always check the internal care label for garment-specific guidance.
- Water temperature: cold only — never warm or hot
- Cycle: gentle or wool cycle
- Detergent: pH-neutral, wool-safe formula
- Turn inside out before washing
- Wash separately from rough fabrics
No. To preserve the natural resilience and shape of the fibres, we strictly recommend air-drying only. Lay your garment flat on a clean surface in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. High heat from tumble dryers causes permanent shrinkage and irreversibly damages the wool's protein structure.
Important
Our New Zealand Merino is naturally more dimensionally stable than traditional wool. However, any natural fibre can react to heat. By sticking to cold water washes and avoiding the dryer, your garment will maintain its original tailored fit for years. The 19.5-micron fibre threshold we curate for is specifically selected for its stability under regular wear and washing.
Merino Care
Pilling is a natural characteristic of high-quality organic fibres — it is not a defect or sign of poor quality. It typically occurs in high-friction areas during early wear. You can easily restore the surface using a fabric shaver or de-pilling comb. Washing your garment inside out significantly reduces pilling over time.
Natural Fibre Behaviour
Merino wool is best stored folded rather than hung — hanging heavy knits over time causes them to stretch and lose shape. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space. For seasonal storage, use breathable cotton bags (not plastic) to allow air circulation and prevent moisture build-up. Cedar balls are a natural, chemical-free way to deter moths.

Sourcing & Ethics
4 Questions
Every fibre is sourced from ethical, regenerative stations across New Zealand. We prioritise farms that exceed animal welfare standards and use land management techniques that actively restore biodiversity. Our supply chain offers a traceable connection from the New Zealand high country directly to your wardrobe — with no synthetic blends or undisclosed additives.
ZQ Certified · Traceable
We lead the "Move to Natural." Unlike mass-market brands that rely on synthetic blends, we focus on 100% biodegradable, plastic-free fashion. Our garments are not just clothes — they are high-performance tools for living that honour the earth and provide superior thermo-regulation and odour resistance. Every brand we carry is audited against our 19.5-micron fibre threshold before it reaches our marketplace.
Technical Integrity
Yes. All farms in our supply chain are required to meet or exceed New Zealand's world-leading animal welfare standards. Mulesing is not practised on any of our partner stations. New Zealand's farming environment — open pasture, low sheep density, and a temperate climate — means mulesing is neither necessary nor permitted by our sourcing standards.
Animal Welfare · Mulesing-Free
No. Our marketplace is Gender-Neutral by Design. We believe comfort and high-performance quality should be accessible to everyone. Our silhouettes are engineered for a versatile fit, empowering you to shop based on personal style and functional needs rather than traditional labels.

Sustainability
4 Questions
Yes. Our core Merino range is 100% natural, biodegradable, and plastic-free. Unlike synthetic fibres such as polyester or nylon — which shed microplastics with every wash — Merino wool biodegrades naturally at end of life, returning nutrients to the soil. This is central to what we mean by the "Move to Natural."
100% Natural · Biodegradable
Our marketplace partners with brands operating verified low-impact manufacturing models. Our partner IBA Crafts — operating under the Moomaya brand — achieved a net carbon-negative outcome for FY 2024–25, avoiding over 572,000 Kg of CO₂-eq through its Just-In-Time digital printing model. This was independently verified by the Greenr Sustainability Accelerator (TechnoServe, J-PAL, IKEA Foundation).
Net Carbon-Negative · Greenr Verified
We require our brand partners to use minimal, recyclable, or compostable packaging wherever possible. Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the garment to every touchpoint of the customer experience. We actively work with our brand partners to reduce single-use plastics in fulfilment. If you receive packaging that falls short of this standard, we'd like to know — please email us.
Sustainable Packaging
Overproduction is the industry's greatest environmental failure. We address it at two levels:
- Our D2C model eliminates unnecessary retail intermediaries that inflate demand forecasts
- Our brand partners using Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing produce only against confirmed orders — eliminating unsold inventory and its associated cradle-to-grave emissions
